September 24, 2020 re: Grad Dear Parents and Guardians of a Grade 12 Student,

This year’s grad, like last year’s, will be both a challenge and an opportunity to be innovative. Because of the current restrictions, I am unable to hold an in-person parent and student Grad meeting. Nor am I able to host the first in-person Dry Grad Parent meeting. This year, the parents and students will be meeting separately. In fact, the counsellors have already met with most if not all of the Grade 12s in their Block A classes to go over what would normally be presented at the Parent and Student Grad meeting.

The parent meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, October 1st at 6:30pm.

You will be able to access the meeting by clicking on the following link:

Join Microsoft Teams Meeting

I would recommend testing the link in advance and then letting me know if you have any difficulties. If you are unsure as how to access a Teams Meeting, please have your child assist you as they all have used Teams at school. The first part of the meeting will give you an overview of the grad year in terms of academics, qualifications for graduation, and scholarships. I will also present what our plans for graduation will be if we are under any kind of COVID restrictions in June. The second part of the meeting will be the first Dry Grad Meeting. Even if Dry Grad as an event is unable to take place in June like last year, it is important that we begin to plan and fundraise. Last year’s Dry Grad parents and the school worked together to create a grad experience that was both creative and personal. The parents’ Dry Grad Fundraising was vital as their funds helped make last year’s graduation events possible and special. So, it is important that the school and parents work collaboratively to make this year’s grad a wonderful experience that they will always remember and cherish. I hope to “see” you in a week from now.

Sincerely, Roger Wiebe
